There is a proposal from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) to reduce how much money it gives back to communities.
OLG wants to lower the original five per cent of net income from Slots facilities that would go back to host municipalities — like Hanover.
As part of the proposed accounting change — OLG would send two per cent of the net income from Slots facility for each quarter back to Hanover.
The town has received more than 8.5 million dollars since the slots opened at Hanover Raceway in February, 2001.
More than 3 million visitors have walked through the doors in that time.
Other communities that host Slot facilities are asking for a meeting with OLG officials to voice their opposition to the plan.
