Time to get out the walking shoes.
The 9th annual Grey-Bruce Hike for Hospice takes place today in Owen Sound.
Spokesperson John Tennant says it’s a walk that takes place right across Canada to kick off National Hospice Palliative Care Week.
He says they want to make people aware that there is a need to support those who take care of those at the end-of-life stage.
Tennant says they have a program called the Dove Loft, which provides relief and support and some time off for family members of those in palliative care, because he says it can become a heavy burden.
All of the funds raised at the local walk will stay within the Grey-Bruce chapter of the organization.
Tennant says the walk will start at St. Francis Place in Owen Sound with registration at 1:30 PM.
The walk winds through the downtown and ends up back at the start.
You can get involved by registering the day of, and donating or fundraising as much or as little as you can manage.
