Fishers and anglers have a new form of technology to help them catch the “Big One.”
The Ministry of Natural Resources has launched a new interactive Fish ON-Line website that will give information on 13 thousand lakes in Ontario.
Matthew Garvin, a Fisheries Program Biologist says they’ve been collecting data for over 50 years and this gives them a way to communicate the information the get to anglers.
Garvin says this tool is a Google-based mapping application that gives information on individual lakes, what species are found in that lake and what types of fish stocking programs are taking place.
He says it will also allow you to search a specific area and get information on the lakes surrounding it.
Fishers and anglers will even be able to obtain information about fishing regulations and where to get lisences.
Garvin says it will even give directions to and from a house.
He says this is the kind of customer service anglers and fishers in other jurisdictions have, and Ontario is happy to now offer it as well.
