Work has resumed on the 9th Street bridge in Owen Sound and that work will continue until July 1st.
Manager of Engineering Services in Owen Sound, Chris Webb says Miller construction will be working until about May 24th on the bridge and on 9th Street from 2nd Avenue East to the bridge.
Meanwhile Bell Canada will return after May 24th to do permanent repairs to it’s services in the city that were cut during construction last year.
About two thousand homes and businesses lost telephone and Internet service after a cable under the 9th Street bridge was severed.
Webb says that may take two to three weeks and after that, Miller construction will do some final touch-ups on the bridge.
Over the next several weeks, Webb says the construction may force a closure of the crossing but it should be open in the evening.
He says foot traffic should not be affected and one lane may be kept open for most of the time.
The budget for the bridge work was initially pegged at 3,471,050 dollars and Webb says that hasn’t changed much.
