The Tara and District Kinette Club are trying to raise environmental awareness with their latest fundraiser.
The club is selling rain barrels to raise money for projects they do within the community.
Spokesperson Lisa Langeraap says you place the barrels under the downspout outside your house and they collect water you can use in your garden.
She says that helps conserve water because then you don’t have to use metered water for your garden.
Langeraap says that will also save you money on your water bill.
The 55 gallon barrels sell for 60 dollars each, and they include a leaf and mosquito net.
Langeraap says this also helps the environment because it helps to stop the spread of West Nile Virus, which is carried by mosquitoes.
You can pre-order a barrel at www.rainbarrel.ca/tara and they are all being delivered this Saturday to Tara.
Langeraap says they already have 150 barrels pre-ordered, and it would be nice to get to 200.
All of the proceeds are going to replace light stands at the Tara ball park.
