Everyone hopes to catch the big fish at the annual Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular Fishing Derby, but there can only be one winner each year.
So Owen Sound Tourism has come up with a new contest that everyone can take part in.
This year, they’re asking you to guess the weight of the “big one” at this year’s salmon derby.
Tourism Marketing Co-ordinator Paulette Peirol says this contest is open to everybody across Canada and the US, and she says it’s great for people who can’t get out fishing, but still want to feel like they’re part of the fun.
She says everybody will get one guess, and you have until the opening day of the 2011 derby.
Peirol says ballots are available at the Owen Sound visitors’ centre, with participating sponsors, or you can enter online at www.owensoundtourism.ca
Local businesses have donated over two thousand dollars worth of prizes.
