The policy chair for the Kincardine police services, Councillor Jacqueline Faubert has come to Kincardine council wondering if it could lend her group 96 hundred dollars.
Faubert says the money would be used for additional RIDE programs conducted by South Bruce OPP during the busy months of June, July and August.
Faubert says they have the money coming through a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
The problem is by time the paperwork is done and approvals are given, the money shows up January or February.
She says the money is needed to cover overtime costs from police officers who work the RIDE program during the summer months rather than the slow months of late winter.
She says getting the money late results in the program not operating efficiently or effectively.
Council agreed to give the money up front.
They’ll be repaid when the grant money comes in.
