Georgian Bluffs council has approved the 2011 budget and, with it — a 1.93-per cent municipal property tax increase.
Council unanimously accepted the financial document and the tax rates on Wednesday night.
The increase represents a hike of $37.28 on an average residential assessment of 185 thousand dollars.
Mayor Alan Barfoot and treasurer Holly Morrison both say council and staff worked hard to come up with a budget that’s fair for all ratepayers.
The various departments all gave up on certain items in order to help the township deal with increases to insurance premiums, police and fire services and the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority levy.
No one from the public attended an information meeting last week about the budget.
Barfoot hopes that means the community is happy with council’s direction.
