The doctor/physician ratio looks pretty good in Kincardine.
Doctor Gary Gurbin of the Kincardine Community Medical Clinic recently told Kincardine councillors the doctor recruitment process has been very successful and several doctors have decided to stay in the area.
Gurbin says the newer physicians feel they still have room for more patients if there are any who are still “orphaned.”
He says from looking at what’s happened in the last year he believes anyone who wanted to be accepted as a patient would probably be successful.
Gurbin says by their calculations there are probably about five thousand people who don’t have a physician.
However many of them have come to the area to work at Bruce Power and have kept their doctors in their hometowns on the assumption they will be moving back once the work dries up at the Bruce.
