With most of the winter snow gone, we’re left with dirt, dust and gritty garbage but in Saugeen Shores, that’s about to change.
It’s time for the annual Saugeen Shores Spring Cleaning event, underway all this week.
The General Manager of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce says it’s all part of Operation Clean Sweep.
Joanne Robbins says there’s lots everyone can do to make the community a cleaner place to live.
Some organizations are registering to clean up a certain park or public area with the garbage bags being provided by the town.
Arrangements will also be made for pickup of either garbage or recyclables.

On Tuesday — staff at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton will be joined by 150 students from G-C Huston School.
They will clean up the area around the museum, the school and Fairy Lake.
Another of the highlights happens on Thursday, April 21st at 2 PM.
It’s called the 20-minute makeover and the goal is to collect loose litter on your property and adjacent public property.
You’re asked to put what you get into your own garbage bag or recycling box for pickup.
Then on Friday and Saturday — Robbins says everyone will have a chance to get rid of those unwanted items on Goods Exchange Weekend.
Robbins says the idea here is to leave clearly marked unwanted items on the curbside so others can pick up what they wish.
It’s like a giant community garage sale with no money exchanging hands.
Books, toys, furniture, art, tools, even windows, sinks and doors can be left out for others to either use or recycle.
However mattresses and other soft furniture will not be allowed.
Robbins says all unpicked items are to be off the streets by 8 PM Saturday.
