CAS workers in Grey and Bruce county are concerned a merger of the organization is moving ahead with little consultation.
CUPE spokesperson Nancy MacMillan tells Bayshore Broadcasting news there was a plan to name a new director of the newly merged Childrens’ Aid society for Grey and Bruce this fall.
Instead, MacMillan says the two county executives ignored their own timeline and named Phyllis Lovell as the new director effective immediately.
CUPE claims there was supposed to be input from the staff about the merger and because a new director was named ahead of schedule, MacMillan wonders if the whole process is being moved up.
She says veering from the plan without any discussion with stakeholders…. doesn’t engender a lot of trust in the merger process.
Queens Park is pushing to merge the Grey and Bruce county CAS groups as a cost savings move, but MacMillan can’t see where they will save money.
For one thing, the union has been told there will be no layoffs.
CUPE has asked for a meeting with management to clarify the merger process, but so far they haven’t had a response.
