The Green Party candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen-Sound is ready to make history.
Emma Hogbin says it’s her vision to be Canada’s first elected Green M-P — and she wants to do it by engaging the public and increasing voter participation.
Hogbin says the Conservative government has forgotten about the human component of politics, and it’s leaving people less likely to be engaged.
And she’s not just after those of legal voting age.
Hogbin opened her campaign headquarters in downtown Owen Sound on Saturday, and she has activities there for all ages.
There are children’s books, a button-making station, and free wireless Internet so that anybody can come in and do some canvassing.
Hogbin says using the Internet and social media are very important to her campaign, as well as the traditional method of phoning and going door-to-door to drum up support and spread the Green platform.

Hogbin says it’s really easy to win an election, “you just need to have more people vote for you than any other candidate.”
