The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Grey-Bruce is partnering with a local pet business for a new fundraiser.
Victoria Will is the owner of Reigning Cats and Dogs in Owen Sound, and she says there’s been some history of heart problems in her family, and with her pet dog.
Will approached Fit for Heart Coordinator Jody Johnson with the idea of a “Dog Walk for Heart.”
Will says getting out and exercising and eating properly benefits both dogs and their owners and she wanted to draw attention to the issue.
She says heart problems in dogs are surprisingly common, and often not diagnosed.
Will says she’s noticed a huge difference with her dog, Chester, ever since he was put on heart medications.
Johnson says they’ve organized a walk from the West Side boat launch in Owen Sound to the off-leash dog park on the other side of the harbour.

The walk begins at 10:30 AM on Sunday.
