The Georgian Bay Symphony is bringing Ontario-made wines to Owen Sound.
The 12th annual Vintner’s Dinner and Wine Auction takes place tonight at Stone Tree Golf & Fitness just outside of Owen Sound.
LCBO Product Consultant Steve Blender says they’ve brought in wines from two wineries this year — Featherstone Estate organic winery and Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery.
Blender says they will have a variety of wines offered before the dinner, paired with the dinner and with dessert.
He says when they first came up with the idea for this fundraiser 12 years ago, they wanted to give wineries an opportunity to showcase their wines, but also for the public to learn more about the wines and food pairing.
Blender says the auction portion of the evening is also a favourite, as it’s an opportunity to obtain some rare wines.
He says of the 40 plus wines up for auction, 95 per cent of them are pulled from the wineries’ libraries, and no longer sold to the general public.
The dinner auction fundraiser begins at 6:30 PM this evening with all of the proceeds going to the Georgian Bay Symphony.
