Doctors say they’ll be reviewing changes in Ontario to allow nurse practitioners to admit and discharge hospital patients.
The Ontario Medical Association says its primary concern is to ensure patient safety is protected.
Nurse practitioners will be allowed to discharge patients starting this July — and they’ll be able to admit patients to hospitals starting in July 2012.
Premier Dalton McGuinty says the move will save taxpayers money and get patients home sooner.
