A couple from Dundalk is this year’s winner of the Tommy Cooper Award.
Paul and Dorien De Jong won the award that’s handed out annually to people who have made outstanding contributions to farm and rural life.
Paul De Jong was the youngest President of the Grey County Federation of Agriculture and continues to be involved in many farm groups.
His wife Dorien was also the first woman and youngest President of the Dundalk Agricultural Society.
The award was handed out Friday night at the Elmwood Community Centre.
The Tommy Cooper award has been presented by Bayshore Broadcasting Corporation, and the Owen Sound Sun Times since 1959.
Long time Grey and Bruce County Federation of Agriculture Secretary Donna Spitzig also received the Award of Merit at last night’s ceremony.
