The planned expansion of the Ward 2 landfill site in Kincardine has hit a bit of a glitch.
CAO John deRosenroll says they budgeted around 700 thousand dollars for the expansion and the lowest tender that came in was 1.1-million-dollars.
He says they’ve asked the civil engineers with the lowest tender to go back to the drawing board and come back with some recommendations that will bring the project back in line with the budget.
deRosenroll says they hope to hear back from the engineers in early April.
Time is of the essence.
deRosenroll says the Ward 1 landfill site, which has been the municipality’s main site, will be closed, likely by the end of this year.
He says the Ward 2 site will then roar into action in 2012 and be the main landfill for the town for the next 40-years.
