South Bruce Peninsula councillor Jim Turner is continuing his quest to have council meetings recorded and posted on the municipality’s website.
Turner says he had someone lined up to do the job for free but the offer was withdrawn after council decided anyone could record the council meetings whenever they wanted.
Turner says that’s all fine and good but he would still like to have an unedited version of the council meeting on their website.
He says now though, it will cost a few dollars for the service but it won’t break the bank.
No figure was given.
Turner says the issue is going back to the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, April 5th for further discussion.
Turner says besides providing an unedited audio version of council proceedings, it also allows those that can’t make the meetings in person, to tune in and listen to what transpires.
He says it’s all about transparency of government.
