It appears most localresidents want to keep drinking at festivals confined to beer tents.
Sixty-nine per cent of respondents to a recent online news survey done by Bayshore Broadcasting News think free-flow alcohol at festivals will create problems for others trying to enjoy themselves.
One person says keeping alcohol in a semi-controlled area is best for the people policing the drinking.
Another says there are enough problems with drinking in controlled areas, and many event venues are too close to residences and businesses which could create more trouble.
Many suggested that letting people walk around with alcohol will ruin the family atmosphere and expose young children to drunken “antics.”
But one person disagrees, saying it will be much easier for parents who want to enjoy a quick beer.
They say parents won’t have to worry about their kids running loose while the parent is in the tent.
Another of the 31 per cent in favour of free-flow alcohol says Ontario needs to loosen up and let kids see people drinking responsibly so that “when they come of age, they know how to behave too.”
One other person says it will stop people from having to chug down a drink so that they don’t miss an act.
