In early March, Bayshore Broadcasting news informed you about awards from the 25th annual Festival and Events of Ontario awards gala that came to the South Bruce Peninsula area.
Recently council delivered the awards to the Sauble Beach 24 weeks of summer events and to the Wiarton Willie Festival.
Spokesperson for the Sauble Beach event Shane Sargant says this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.
He says they hope to focus in on their core products, meaning sand, wind, and musical entertainment.
Sargant says some major musical groups that will be participating this year will be announced in the next couple of weeks.
Sargant says though the events and the awards are all about the volunteers.
He says between the summer promotion and the Wiarton Willie Festival, volunteers have donated an estimated 6,000 hours of their time.
24 weeks of summer won best overall campaign and best new event.
Wiarton Willie won for top 100 events in Ontario and best printed promotional piece.
Wiarton Chamber of Commerce president Todd Gibbons says the Wiarton Willie guide flooded Southwestern Ontario, enticing people to the February event.
Gibbons says 80 thousand guides were distributed.
