The Hanover and District Hospital has some shopping to do.
The Hospital Board has approved 700 thousand dollars in new capital equipment purchases for 2011.
The money will be spread across the various Hospital departments.
The Hospital Lab will receive one of the largest chunks of cash.
127 thousand dollars will be spent purchasing new lab equipment, and another 100 thousand will be spent renovating the lab to make it more ergonomic and efficient.
170 thousand dollars will be spent on I-T upgrades.
Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson says the majority of the money will be used to replace aging equipment throughout the building.
She says the new equipment will help keep the small hospital current with today’s health needs.
Wilson notes the Hanover E-R is also getting a portable ultra sound machine.
This medical tool will allow doctors to make quick diagnosis without requiring a radiologists on hand.
This year’s 700 thousand dollar Capital Equipment List is down from last year’s 1.15 million dollars.
