April is a sure sign of spring — and the Canadian Cancer Society always marks the month with their annual daffodil fundraiser.
But this year, they’re doing something different.
Jenn Wright, the Fundraising Coordinator at the Bluewater Branch, says they’ll be selling daffodil pins instead of actual flowers.
Wright says when they considered where their donor dollars go, it made more sense to do this type of fundraiser.
She says prices for fuel and shipping the flowers across Canada have increased, and growing costs are on the rise.
Wright says the lapel pin is also something that is highly visible, and it can be worn year-round to be a constant reminder of the fight against cancer.
Wright says there is no set price to purchase a pin — it’s all by donation.
The daffodil pins will be sold all month starting Thursday at different retail outlets throughout Grey-Bruce.
