The Bluewater District School Board’s newest school, being built in Walkerton, has a new name.
Shelley Crummer of the school naming committee says the new K-to-12 school will now be known as the Walkerton District Community School.
The name and three others were voted on by 475 people with WDCS winning out.
Crummer says others in the running were: Walkerton Community School; Brockton Community School; and Brockton District Community School.
She says the name tells people where the school is located and that it is a school of the entire community.
Crummer says it defines who they are.
Board trustees recently approved the new name.
Crummer says next on the agenda is picking the school colours and the school logo.
Walkerton District Community School is currently under construction and will replace Brant Central School; Walkerton Public School and Walkerton District Secondary School.
