Hanover Councillors are rolling up their sleeves and crunching numbers today (MON) as they attempt to bring in a modest budget.
It’s the first round of budget deliberations — and Mayor Kathi Maskell says they are aiming to bring in a budget increase of less than 3 per cent.
Maskell says staff department heads have been very working hard to meet the their goal.
Staff are referring to their budgets as bare bones and have no major projects.
Last year — the town took on 9.8 million dollars in capital projects — and this year’s proposed capital budget is less than 2.5 million.
Maskell says the budget should also maintain Hanover’s current services.
Maskell is confident they will be able to meet their target of a tax increase of less than 3 per cent.
Maskell expect to have the finalized budget approved in April.
