One of the ridings to watch in the federal election to come is Simcoe-Grey, currently held by former Conservative, Helena Guergis.
Guergis is preparing to run in the riding she’s won three times.
This time she will run as an Independent Conservative, the title she says she’s been given by the house.
Guergis resigned from the Harper cabinet a year ago and was removed from the Conservative party after a string of scandals swirled around her husband and herself.
She has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the RCMP.
Simcoe Grey’s Conservatives are voting today on Guergis’ replacement.
23-hundred party members are choosing between Chris Carrier, a former Collingwood Mayor, Kellie Leitch, a surgeon who practices at the Hosptial for Sick Children and Paul Throop, born in the riding, but who works in the office of Defence Minister Peter MacKay.
