The MPP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound does not like the political system in Canada.
Bill Murdoch made the comments Wednesday at the Hanover Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Canada has lost its democracy — that comment from Conservative MPP Bill Murdoch.
He says we have moved from a representative democracy to a party democracy.
Murdoch says “while other countries are appointed dictators, in Canada we elect them.”
Murdoch says as soon as an M-P-P or M-P gets elected — the party takes over dictating what the individual can or can not support.
Murdoch feels we give the Prime Minister and Premiers too much power.
Murdoch says many politicians end up acting on behalf of their party rather than their riding.
Murdoch challenges the public to elect individuals who will stand up for their constituents and vote on matters based on the wishes of their riding — not their party.
He says representative government is alive and well in England and could be again in Canada if enough people act.
Murdoch calls this one of his last crusades before leaving politics.
