A documentary that tells the story of Durham raw milk farmer Michael Schmidt has been nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award.
The hour-long film “Milk War” was narrated by actor Colm Feore.
The film provides details of Schmidt’s battle with the Grey Bruce Health Unit and provincial government authorities to sell unpasteurized milk.
It has been outlawed in Canada since 1991.
The awards — named for the late American chef — are often described as the Oscars of the food world.
