The four public consultations held recently by the Director of Education for the Bluewater District School Board has produced results.
It’s time to move on — and it’s the concept John Bryant embraces following hours and hours of talks with the general public, teachers and administrators on the future of education in the region.
Bryant says the next major step is to set up a working group with the goal of developing a long-term strategic plan for the board.
Bryant says you look at the strengths and weaknesses of the system as was garnered from the various public consultation meetings and move forward.
He says the vision should always be looking at student achievement and well being.
Bryant says they will call on everyone to help with the strategic plan and with meeting targets.
He doesn’t view it as another level of committee that concerned parents have to deal with in order to get to the board.
Bryant says work on the next step in the strategic plan will begin in the weeks ahead.
Meanwhile, board chair Marg Gaviller says the consultation process was a chance to listen and she believes people felt listened to.
She says the board is doing a better job of listening and transparency has improved with the new board.
Gaviller agrees with Director Bryant that communication will be one of the anchors to creating and following through with the strategic plan.
