The Owen Sound Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting will drum up more interest than usual this year.
Vice President Corporate Affairs of Bruce Power, Murray Elston, is the keynote speaker for the event today.
Originally, Bruce Power CEO Duncan Hawthorne was to speak but his international status and position has, at the last minute, taken him out of the country.
It is being held at the Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Centre on Highway 6 and 10 at the edge of Owen Sound.
A trade show of Chamber members will be held from 4:45 PM until 6 PM, with Elston speaking during the dinner hour at 6 PM.
As Vice President Corporate Affairs of Bruce Power, Elston is likely to address concerns raised as a result the nuclear disaster in Japan .
He is also expected to talk about opposition to the company’s plan to transport decommissioned steam generators to Sweden for recycling.
Bruce Power has maintained from the beginning that the recycling plan is safe and opponents are exaggerating any potential problem.
