Blue Mountain is expecting this ski season to be a record breaker.
Spokesperson Kelly O’Neil says final numbers won’t be able until the season ends — but she says they usually see 700 thousand visits and they know they’ve been reaching and exceeding their targets this year.
O’Neil says there’s still a good snow base on the mountain so it’s hard to say when the season will end.
The last day of skiing last year was April 3rd.
But O’Neil does tell us night skiing will end on March 20th, which is this Sunday — but day skiing from 9 AM to 4:30 pm will continue until further notice.
Blue Mountain will also unveil Ontario’s first mountain coaster, the Ridge Runner, today from 11 AM to 5 PM, weather permitting.
And the ride will be open this weekend and for weekends only to the end of the ski season.
Last year’s ski season ended on April 3rd.
The Ridge Runner — which is a two seater cart in which the driver controls the speed — will then close and re-open on the May 2-4 long weekend.
