The budget news from the Saugeen Conservation Authority is better than it has been.
Board member and Deputy Mayor of Saugeen Shores Luke Charbonneau tells Bayshore Broadcasting News members cut the budget by two per cent last week.
Charbonneau says initially the budget was showing a 5.6 per cent increase — something Saugeen Shores was not accepting.
He said by using some reserve money they were able to reduce the Authority levy to 3.6 per cent.
Charbonneau says that means a lower cost for all municipalities in the watershed area.
He says the authority now has a plan that will allow them to operate efficiently through 2011.
He feels the new budget represents a win-win situation for the authority and for the municipalities that have to pay the levy.
