The public and media are welcome but not their recorders.
South Bruce Peninsula has banned recording devices at all of its public meetings.
Council voted 6-3 in favour of the resolution Tuesday that states recording devices are banned at all municipal public meetings at least until a policy procedure is developed.
Mayor John Close voted in favour of the resolution.
He says there was what is being called a breach of security, when a private citizen left behind a recorder operating during a closed door session.
Mayor Close indicated the recorder was seized and the in camera portion was deleted from the recording device.
Councillor Janice Jackson voted against the resolution saying she tried to get video streaming of council meetings in the past.
She says to support this resolution would have been hypocritical.
Meanwhile, in connection with this issue, Councillor Jim Turner has presented a notice of motion calling for meetings to be recorded by the municipality and put on its website.
Turner says it would assure that any recorded comments would not be edited and would allow the general public to listen in.
The notice of motion will be dealt with at a future meeting.
