The Owen Sound campus of Georgian College has entered an agreement with Tianjin Marine College in China.
As many as 20 Chinese students will come to Owen Sound in the second year of their three year program to attend the marine navigation and engineering course.
Bob Emptage — the Dean of the Owen Sound campus — signed the agreement in China.
Students who come to Owen Sound will receive diplomas from both Marine Colleges.
Associate Dean Donna Jansen tells Bayshore Broadcasting News Georgian College is the only Canadian College among 10 institutions that signed a total of 30 agreements with the Chinese.
Ben Yang — Georgian’s Director of International Students — says the agreement successfully concluded four years of negotiations.
Jansen says the deal reflects Canada’s global reputation for its marine programs and especially those of Georgian College in Owen Sound.
