Now that a former Pumpkinfest co-ordinator has been sentenced in a fraud case, the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce is looking to the next 50 years.
Lisa Irwin was sentenced on Wednesday in Walkerton court to six months house arrest after pleading guilty to 12 counts of forgery and one count of theft of 10 thousand dollars.
Twelve other counts related to siphoning money from Pumpkinfest accounts into her personal account were dropped.
Chamber of Commerce General Manager Joanne Robbins says they’re glad to have closure on this issue, and they’ve put measures in place to ensure nothing like this could ever happen again.
She is also grateful that the community has supported the Chamber throughout the ordeal, and still supported events like Pumpkinfest.
Robbins adds all of their events and programs are in good shape and haven’t been affected.
She says they are now putting the incident behind them, and moving forward.
