Another Accommodation Review Committee meeting is set to go in Kincardine.
Saugeen Shores/Arran Elderslie Board of Education trustee Kevin Larson says don’t expect to see a lot of Saugeen Shores residents there, even though Saugeen District Secondary School is in the discussion mix.
Larson says tonight’s meeting at Huron Heights school is more about the future of the elementary schools in Kincardine and the possible inclusion of junior high grades at Kincardine District Secondary School.
He says SDSS is in the mix because of the potential to share or offer programs with KDSS.
Larson says SDSS is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
Just recently, the school was granted 1.2 million dollars in renewal money to start work on the school’s roof and asbestos abatement program.
In addition SDSS is number one on a list sent to the Ontario Education Ministry for future capital projects worth 13.6 million dollars.
The priority list was sent to Queen’s Park in January.
The ministry has about 70-million dollars in the kitty for school capital projects.
Tonight’s ARC meeting at Huron Heights in Kincardine gets underway at 7 PM.
