The former Co-ordinator of Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest has pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and theft.
32 year old Lisa Irwin — formerly of the Kincardine area, now living in Kitchener — pleaded guilty to 12 counts of forgery and one count of theft of 10 thousand dollars in Walkerton court Wednesday.
Twelve other charges in connection with siphoning of money from the Pumpkinfest account to her personal bank account, were dropped.
The Crown says the bookkeeping of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce left much to be desired and could not confirm the original amount of 67 thousand dollars that was allegedly missing.
Irwin received a conditional sentence of six months house arrest and two years probation.
She must also make every effort to pay back the 10 thousand dollars she stole.
Following sentencing, Bayshore Broadcasting News asked Irwin if she had anything to say but offered no comment on the advice of her lawyer.
