Residents, north of the Saugeen River who endured a summer of sewer installations and road closures, should be able to hook up to the municipal sewer system by April 4th.
Saugeen Shores Director of Engineering Services Dave Burnside says the sanitary sewers were fully commissioned last December and the infrastructure is ready to go.
Burnside says pending council’s direction, people should be allowed to hook into the system in April.
He says the actual hook up cost will be borne by the property owner and will making the arrangements for the work.
However the town will do inspections and offer assistance when needed.
Elsewhere Burnside says the revised estimated cost of the project is just over 19.6-million-dollars, reduced from the 20.1 million dollar initial estimate.
He says that could very well compute to lesser connection costs for residential units.
That will be discussed at a March 14th council meeting.
Meanwhile, Burnside says everything else is pretty well done except for some minor restoration deficiencies in landscaping and the final asphalting of the affected roadways.
That should happen in May or June.
