Hanover Fire Fighters responded to 93 calls last year, resulting in no fire fatalities, one fire injury and 677 thousand dollars in fire losses.
Fire Chief Ken Roseborough says the biggest events of the year took place at Lake Rosalind.
This includes the two cottages that were destroyed by fire on October 28th. That fire also caused 600 thousand dollars in damage to a nearby cottage.
The other event took place on November 28th when a plane crashed into Lake Rosalind.
The tragedy provided the unique opportunity for the fire department to utilize its water rescue equipment and training.
Overall fire calls were up slightly in 2010; 74 per cent of the calls were from within Hanover the other 26 per cent were either in Brockton or West Grey.
Roseborough says training played a prominent role last year, with work in auto extrication, search and rescue, swift water, ice water and confined space rescue.
He says they also connected with over one thousand people through their fire prevention and education programs.
Roseborough expects that number to rise in 2011, as he would like to place more emphasis on public education and fire prevention.
2011 will also see the arrival of the new 750 thousand dollar Ariel Fire Truck; it will replace a 1987 unit.
It is expected to arrive in May.
