Huge strides continue to be made towards the completion of the Owen Sound Regional Recreation Centre.
The main structure and framework of the 38.6 million dollar facility is taking shape, and its a hard sight to miss, looming large in Victoria Park.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller joined the Chairman of the Rec Centre Steering Committee, Jim McManaman, for a tour of the facility on Thursday.
Miller says seeing the facility up close really shows the amount of work, dedication and engineering its takes to get a project like this up and running.
He says the Rec Centre will draw people to the community, and adds it will be both a boon to the economy and a facility we can take pride on.
Miller says the community has really stepped up and helped with the fundraising effort, and adds they will soon reap the benefits of a great facility.
For his part, McManaman says the fundraising effort is well past the halfway goal of 5 million dollars — and adds it’s money well spent.
The Regional Rec Centre features two NHL sized rinks, a pair of swimming pools, a running track, gymnasium and more.
