We now have more details about a fatal shooting near Owen Sound.
We first told you about the shooting victim at Grew Boats Manufacturing on Highway 6 and 10 south of Rockford.
The OPP now report the 44 year old man — a male employee at the plant — is in serious condition at a London hospital but is expected to survive.
Police say the man — whose name has not been released — drove himself with a gunshot wound to the Owen Sound hospital before he was airlifted to London.
Other employees at the plant tell Bayshore Broadcasting News the victim came to the aid of a woman before being shot — but police will not comment on the details.
The OPP allege the man who shot him was the man who fled the property in a pickup truck and got into a shootout with police officers north of Kemble.
The man fled the scene on the Taylor Side Road but was found dead in a nearby forest half an hour later Monday night.
He is believed to be the owner of Grew Boats — but the OPP and SIU will not confirm his identity.
Six SIU investigators are still probing the shooting — specifically three Grey County OPP officers who were involved at the scene of the shooting on the Taylor Side Road.
Communications Commander Frank Phillips says they will not release any other information about the incident until Wednesday’s post mortem is complete.
Grey County OPP also want to hear from people who have information from the incident at Grew Boats Manufacturing.
