Kincardine is going to become a partner in the Saugeen Mobility and Regional Transit (SMART) program.
The agency provides transportation for the disabled in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.
Kincardine Councillor Maureen Couture says the municipality will try it out for a year at a cost of 47 thousand dollars.
However Couture thinks the price is a little steep and that the money could be better spend elsewhere although she supports transportation for the disabled.
Couture also wants to know why some neighbouring communities have opted out of the service, such as Huron Kinloss and South Bruce.
Meanwhile, she, along with Deputy Mayor Anne Eadie called for Bruce County to step up to the plate and fund the service since they are responsible for social services.
Mayor Larry Kraemer, who is a county councillor said he would take the request to the county but said it would take a long time before any move is made on the matter.
The issue is the clients in Kincardine need the service now, which they would pay for on a per-ride basis as well.
