The Chippewas of Nawash First Nation will receive just over one million dollars ($1,010,00.00) to improve housing conditions.
The federal government made the announcement Wednesday during the 9th Annual First Nations Northern Housing Conference in Thunder Bay.
The money for the Chippewas of Nawash is earmarked to build six new housing units.
The government, through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, is granting a total of 14.2 million dollars for housing in 36 First Nations communities in Ontario.
The money comes as part of year two funding through Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
The Ministry of Indian Affairs and Northern Development says the investment will provide quality, affordable housing, while creating jobs and stimulating the local economy.
