Georgian Bluffs plans to meet soon with its neighbours to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Council will extend invitations to the councils of Owen Sound and South Bruce Peninsula.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says it’s a good way of talking about various issues that don’t just affect Georgian Bluffs.
A task force already exists between the city and the township and it meets fairly regularly, but Barfoot says a meeting of both councils will give everyone a chance to get together.
He thinks his councillors would especially like to meet the three new members of Owen Sound’s council — Ian Boddy, Jan Chamberlain and Colleen Purdon.
But it’s an entirely new council in South Bruce Peninsula and that’s partly why Barfoot says Georgian Bluffs should meet first with that municipality.
There are a number of matters affecting both municipalities that need some direction, particularly the fate of the Wiarton-Keppel District Airport which they jointly own.
Barfoot says neither meeting will happen until March at the earliest because of conflicting schedules.
