The skating rinks and ski trails around Grey-Bruce may be a little busier than usual today.
The United Way of Bruce-Grey is hosting the 9th annual Rotary Winterama.
Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says it’s a great way to get active and help out a good cause.
She says winter activities will be officially taking place at the Shallow Lake Arena, Port Elgin Plex and the Meeting Place in Tobermory.
There will be public skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and the Grey/Bruce Snowmobile Trail Association has sponsored the Snowmobile Run.
But Dobbyn says you can also do your own winter activity and pledge money to the Rotary clubs.
She says the minimum amount you need to raise or donate to participate is 25 dollars.
You can collect pledges by downloading the form at the United Way’s website.
Dobbyn says in previous years, the top pledge-earners have raised 8 to 9 thousand dollars.
All of the proceeds from Winterama go to children and youth projects within Grey-Bruce.
Fifty per cent of it will go to the Rotary Clubs, and the other half is distributed through the United Way’s Rotary Fund.
Last year’s Winterama event raised 25 thousand dollars.
Registration for the events starts at 10 AM and there is a hot lunch at each site at noon.
