Grey Roots Museum and Archives just outside of Owen Sound is celebrating Black History Month with a couple of special events.
Archivist Karin Noble says this Saturday, the Owen Sound Empancipation Festival is hosting a Grey County Black History Event.
She says there will be presentations throughout the day and a market with lunch and refreshments from 9 AM till 2:30 PM.
Noble says you can register online before hand for the lunch.
There will be a series of guest speakers, including Les MacKinnon who will talk about the Priceville Cemetary and other authors and historians.
Afterward, Noble says they’ll be launching the “Northern Terminus Journal,” which is a publication devoted to celebrating Black History.
Admission to the launch is by donation.
Also, the museum will feature a different documentary on each Saturday of the month.
The museum’s well-known exhibit “From Slavery to Freedom” will also be featured from now until April 1st.
