We’re getting closer to a decision on who will run for the Conservatives in Simcoe-Grey in the next federal election.
The race for the federal Conservative nomination is now officially on in the riding.
The national party has opened the 42 day nomination process, with a nomination meeting now expected to be held the weekend of March 19th.
So far, there are three declared candidates: Collingwood’s former mayor Chris Carrier, surgeon Kellie Leitch and long-time Conservative operative, Paul Throop, each of whom has to put up a thousand dollars to run.
Conservative Party rules say any additional candidates have to come forward in the next three weeks.
