It’s time for about one thousand students to roll up their sleeves for their 10 year immunization shot.
Public Health Nurse Sandy Rennick at the Grey Bruce Health Unit, says nurses will be going to all 12 high schools, beginning with St. Mary’s in Owen Sound on Tuesday.
Rennick says the 10 year tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough booster shots will be given out over the next several weeks, ending in March.
Nurses will also offer polio, measles, mumps, rubella and meningococcal immunizations as well.
Prior to the clinics, all students who require vaccines will receive a consent form.
Rennick says only about two per cent of parents refuse the vaccines for their kids.
She says there is a very formal process they have to go through, for their children to be exempt.
