It’s time to recognize those women in Grey-Bruce who make a difference.
She could be a mom, an aunt, a sister, or a grandmother. She could be your neighbour.
And if she’s an outstanding woman, the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey want to hear about her.
Interim Community and Fund Development Co-ordinator Shannon Drainville says they’re now taking nominations for the “Woman of Distinction” award.
Drainville says they are looking for a woman who lives in Grey or Bruce and contributes to improving the community.
She says it should be someone who is a positive role model with leadership qualities, and advocate for positive change in our society.
To nominate someone, all you have to do is write a 250 to 500 word biography on why this woman is exemplary, and submit it to the Women’s House.
Drainville says this award was started a few years ago, to first honour Coleen Purdon, who has spent many years working towards the improvement of women’s lives.
Now Drainville says it’s a way to showcase what types of spectacular women live in the region.
The nomination deadline is February 8th.
The award will be given out at their March 4th fundraising event, which coincides with International Women’s Day.
