One of Canada’s top modelling scouts is visiting Owen Sound today.
Michelle Miller is the owner of International Model Management in Barrie and a Director of Scouting for Elite Model Management.
She is hosting a forum to help aspiring models avoid being scammed.
Miller says many young people are easily scammed by agencies that aren’t legitimate.
She says the first warning is when the ask for money up front.
Miller says legitimate agencies won’t start making money off of models or talent until they get jobs, and bring in a commission.
After spending 15 years in the business, Miller says she sees it happen too often, and wants to give free advice.
The forum is at 1 PM this afternoon at the Best Western Inn On the Bay in Owen Sound.
She says there is no admission charge.
Miller will also be scouting during the meeting, and will give the opportunity to have photos taken and will answer any questions you may have.
Miller is credited with finding two of Canada’s biggest supermodels: Jessica Stam and Andi Muise, who have both appeared on the runway for Victoria’s Secret, as well as several magazine covers.
