The annual Mariner’s Church service and blessing of the Great Lakes fleet goes this weekend in Owen Sound.
It is held at St. George’s Anglican Church on 4th Avenue East, at 10:30 AM on Sunday.
The church will be decorated with flags of the various fleets that ply the waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Sailors who have been staying this winter in Owen Sound will be on hand for the service.
It actually begins about a half hour earlier when a piper will bring members into the church.
Captain Ray Schrempf says the traditional service and blessing is followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
